Nirvana – Where Did You Sleep Last Night

Where Did You Sleep Last Night do Nirvana? Sim, por favor.

Não amiguinhos, não é só uma música do acústico do Nirvana… Já falei e repito, meio que cansei da banda, não por ser ruim, mas pela alta exposição… E claro que o MTV Unplugged está bem no alto neste quesito, mas não há como negar a beleza, principalmente de Where Did You Sleep Last Night.

O interessante é que mesmo com todo desgaste da imagem (e do som?) existem curiosidade que ninguém parece querer saber ou sequer pesquisar. Afinal o show acústico contou com diversas covers, as mais famosas de David Bowie e Meat Puppets, mas a música de encerramento é uma “cover” mais interessante do que parece.

Where Did You Sleep Last Night é também conhecida como In the Pines e Black Girl, com diversas versões e, estima-se, que a música foi criada em 1870… Mesmo assim não se sabe por quem. A música foi gravada inicialmente diversos interpretes de estilos tradicionais norte americanos como o bluegrass e folk. Inclusive chegou a influenciar músicos franceses na década de 40.

A música teria sido apresentada à Kurt Cobain por Mark Lanegan, que gravou uma versão com guitarra em um álbum de 1990, fugindo das origens mais tradicionalistas.

Lembro que, só para melhorar ainda mais a história, a música teria sido gravada como uma bravata contra Courtney Love, sua esposa que na época dizia-se que o corneava com o líder do Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan.
