Something There – Chage and Aska

Tem alguma coisa lá com Something There da dupla Chage and Aska.

Algumas coisas grudam em sua mente de maneira quase permanente, Something There da dupla Chage and Aska é um bom exemplo. Neste caso a música está grudada em meu córtex desde 1994, graças ao filme Street Fighter: A Última Ameaça. O filme não é bom, é mais uma adaptação de um jogo de videogame sem história que enaltece o imperialismo norte-americano de maneira tóxica.

Diabos, Guile como protagonista foi forçar a amizade demais, Ryu e quem Ken mal tinham falas. Mas não foi a trama que me cativou, nem as voadoras esquisitas de Van Damme mas a até então desconhecida atriz Ming-Na Wen, que interpretou Chun-Li no filme.

Não, sua personagem também não era nada demais e foi escrita de maneira extremamente equivocada até para os anos 1990. Porém a beleza da atriz ultrapassou essa barreira e, ao assistir o video clipe da música, minha versão adolescente se apaixonou pela atriz. Sim, de uma maneira bem pouco adulta e longe de ser saudável.

Mas a questão neste momento é como assisti o video clipe, não foi na MTV – que na época era algo que prestava – nem no Fantástico. Em uma época em quem a internet era algo que surgiria com os carros voadores acabei comprando uma revista de videogame com uma fita VHS com vídeos musicais do filme.

Tenho até hoje uma fita K7 patrocinado por uma marca de refrigerante de laranja com algumas músicas. Nada notável, Something There não é algo que posso chamar de bom… Mas gruda na cabeça e tem a Ming-Na Wen.
